The absolute key point here is “the system only works when it is circumvented.” If we don’t want exceptional work to literally be the exception, we have to fixate on how to make it possible for agencies to actually deliver against the mandates they already have.
Thank you for talking about the challenges of public sector HR - one of the biggest impediments to excellent public service. AI has great potential to support us in emotionally charged situations - like assessing and managing underperformance or poor job fit. Good data can mitigate personal opinion, vested interests and nepotism. I would love to see an AI tool that undertakes 360 reviews of manager performance, and objectively supports evaluation and work improvement plans.
